Description

The Aleta Wondo station sources its cherries from the surrounding Aleta Wondo region. It operates around 140 African raised drying beds, most of which are dedicated exclusively to washed coffee.

Aleta Wondo is one of the largest towns in Sidama, renowned for its coffee and deeply reliant on the coffee economy.

Most of the varieties grown here are indigenous heirloom cultivars, though in recent years more resilient varieties such as JARC 74110 have also been planted. Coffee has been cultivated in the Aleta Wondo area for many decades, though harvest quality can be challenged by overextended labor during peak season.

Today, Aleta Wondo is home to at least 10,000 coffee farmers and is widely recognized for producing washed coffees with bright acidity and pronounced sweetness. Natural process coffees from this region are rare.
